Queen Elizabeth Hospital II

Queen Elizabeth II Hospital, formerly known as Sabah Medial Center (SMC) a private hospital, is now a Malaysian Government Hospital.

The idea to make this SMC one of the government hospitals was due to the problems faced by the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (HQE) which was unsafe to use and had to be demolished and rebuilt.

As a result of the problem and to accommodate the increasing number of patients from HQE, the Malaysian Government has approved the application of the Ministry of Health to purchase Sabah Medical Center (SMC) to be used as a Government Hospital. At the same time, the government plans to make HQE II a Cardiothoracic Center in Sabah.
