Lower Kinabatangan Wildlife Sanctury

Stretching 560km in length, the Kinabatangan River is home to one of the world’s most unique and richest ecosystems. The lower reaches of the river are home to a high concentration of the most varied wildlife in Southeast Asia. Exotic wildlife such as orang utan, proboscis monkeys, Asian elephants and Sumatran rhinos roam free in the jungle. This sanctuary is accessible from the village of Sukau about 50km from Sandakan. Trips must be pre-arranged with tour agencies.
